FAQs

What is used for fragrance?

We want our candles to smell great but we also want them to be safe! We use only clean, high quality fragrance oils in our candle making process.  Our fragrance oils are phthalate free and adhere to strict IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards.

Do you use essential oils in your candles?

We use fragrance oils in our candle making.  While essential oils are 100% natural they are not ideal for use in candles.  Contrary to popular belief, studies have shown that many essential oils lose their therapeutic benefits when burned in candles, may cause severe allergic/respiratory reactions, and some essential oils are toxic to pets if inhaled.  In addition, while candles made from essential oils may smell great cold, they often provide very little scent when burned.

Why Soy?

Many candles today are made of paraffin wax which is derived from petroleum.  When burned, paraffin wax candles produce a dark soot which may stain walls, get into linens, and cause respiratory problems in people and animals.  Soy wax is derived from soybeans making it biodegradable and renewable.  Soy wax burns clean and does not contain the harmful additives in paraffin wax.  Plus, by burning soy wax you are supporting U.S. soy bean farmers!

When burned properly our 8oz Mason Jar candles will burn for approximately 35 hours.  Candle wicks should be trimmed to 1/4 inch.  Candles should be burned for 2-4 hours to prevent "tunneling" and allow for an even melt pool.  Most importantly, never leave burning candles unattended or within reach of children or pets!
